Feature Friday- Get to Know Chris Schuetz, PT, DPT of McHenry County Physical Therapy

Chris Schuetz, PT, DPTThis week we are happy to feature Chris Schuetz, PT, DPT of our McHenry County Physical Therapy clinic.  We sat down this week with Chris to learn a little more about him.

Tell everyone a little bit about yourself.

My name is Chris Schuetz, PT, DPT and I am a staff therapist at McHenry County Physical Therapy.  I am fairly new to the OSTI organization, I started seeing patients at McHenry County Physical Therapy in January of this year.

I graduated from Saint Louis University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science.  I continued my graduate studies at Saint Louis University and received my Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2012.

What inspired you to become a physical therapist?

My prior experiences with physical therapy as an athlete made me become interested in pursuing my current career.

Do you have any upcoming personal or professional milestones?

Yes, professional.  Within the next year, I hope to start my journey towards becoming a Fellow of The American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Therapists and make further contributions to the physical therapy profession.

Additionally, I hope to complete my board certification in orthopedics as well.

What is the best part of job?  What is the most difficult?

The best part of my job is having the opportunity to interact with individuals from all different backgrounds, and being able to work alongside them to facilitate recovery in the most efficient way.

The most challenging (and fun) comes in discovering the best way to teach individuals how to carry on with our work on their own.

What do you enjoy doing in your fun?

In my spare time I enjoy going to the gym to continue my Olympic Weightlifting and Strongman endeavors, as well as practicing the piano.

What is something that people are surprised to learn about you?

I have competed in Strongman, Powerlifting and Olympic Weightlifting competitions throughout college, and as a competitive swimmer in high school.
